Hemant Sachdev has been responsible for the Marketing strategy, and sales & marketing operations of the integrated Bharti Airtel organization. Hemant has led all facets of Marketing operations & Business Strategy, with an emphasis on Business Planning, Revenue Management, Innovation, Brand and Distribution. He has led a large team of business verticals in this tenure.  He also had a stint as a CEO of a telecom operation.  

Bharti Airtel is today India’s largest private telecom company with over 66 million customers, a market cap of over $ 40 billion, with revenues of over $ 6.5 billion   In his over 12 years with Bharti, he helped develop new businesses & built a high quality team.

Hemant has pioneered & led some significant firsts - product & business innovations - the most recent one being ‘Lifetime Prepaid’ (which was later acknowledged globally). This innovation changed the course of the telecom industry, which was static at 2 million a month and has hence moved to over 8 million a month.  This innovation led to unprecedented growth at Bharti & also led to India beating China on monthly volume growth. (This business & market innovation was followed by the industry). He has also driven & developed alliances with companies such as IBM, Google, Yahoo etc.    He has also driven the successful development of the Retail entry strategy with the launch of easyday, Bharti’s neighbourhood stores.
 
As Group Director, Bharti Group (corporate headquarters), reporting to the Chairman & Group CEO, he oversees the strategic process of driving market & brand leadership for the businesses of Bharti with a focus on operationally supporting new emerging businesses such as Retail, Financial Services, International telecom operations etc.

Hemant has over 21 years of experience in Business Operations, Strategic Marketing, Retail Operations, Product Development, Innovations and Brand Management. During the course of his career he has also been the Business Head of a retail operation and led a marketing company. Prior to joining Bharti, Hemant worked for McCann Erickson & Foote Cone & Belding, where he partnered with companies such as Nestle, Perfetti etc. - across sectors that included FMCG, Retail, Real estate, Hospitality & Media.  His career has given him a blend of experience of highly competitive industries such as Telecom & IT, Retail, Media/Entertainment & Communication.

Through his career, Hemant has successfully partnered in the development & accelerated growth of new & existing businesses. He believes in building quality teams, is result oriented & has helped deliver strong business growth & market leadership. He has also been instrumental in developing industry benchmark marketing, customer relationship & brand measurement models.

Some of the significant recognitions in his career include Marketing Professional of the Year (2002), Chairman of the India Brand Summit (2003), India’s Achievers and Leadership Award for Excellence (2004), Best Marketing Strategy of the year – Retail (2004), India’s Top Marketing Director Award (2006) amongst others.  Hemant has also featured as India’s top Best Brand Builders.  (Airtel has achieved a large number of Indian & global marketing awards under his leadership). Hemant is a Graduate in Business Commerce & has attended global management & Leadership programmes including the “Leadership at the Peak” at CCL, USA.
