He has worked for 37 years in marketing and advertising. Presently he is the Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi India.
Shantakumar’s experience spans a wide variety of industries in his capacity as a marketing strategist and communication specialist. These range from fast moving consumer goods like; soaps, detergents, toiletries, foodstuffs, cosmetics, liquor and alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee, tobacco, etc. Consumer durables like television, home appliances, audio equipment, automobiles and automobile components like cars, two wheelers, spare parts, batteries, financial services including banking and insurance, telecom including services mobile phones, travel and tourism, retail and petroleum products, etc. Shantakumar has been involved in the rebuilding of Contract advertising in India and in the foundation and growth of Saatchi & Saatchi in India.
He has also been involved as the CEO of the present company, in human resource development, the creation of a peak performance purposing in India, corporate programming and creation of long term goals and vision not only for his company but also for his clients. He has also been involved in transforming Saatchi & Saatchi India into a SOX compliant organisation and in the corporate governance of this organisation.
He is focused on areas that deliver specific results in the increase of financial efficiency as well as over all health of the organisation based on a ‘balanced score card’ system which was set up in Saatchi & Saatchi some years ago.
His involvement in marketing and brand strategy which now spans over three decades has resulted in the creation and growth of some significant brands in India including the Hyundai Corporate and car brands, the resurgence of the TVS motorcycle company as a significant player, the creation of Bharat Petroleum fuel advanced products, among others.
He is 57 years old, married with no children, writes occasionally for publications and is now engaged in writing a book. He loves to travel, loves jazz, music and is learning how to be a cook.
