Derek is CEO of JWT International, a new different type of communications agency. Leveraging his 20+ years experience for large international brands, particularly those going through change, Derek created JWT International in 2006. The agency specialises in providing geography-neutral and channel-neutral solutions for international brands. Based on a ‘demand-led’ model, he puts together bespoke teams from anywhere in the world for Clients anywhere in the world, based around meeting their unique challenges.
Some of brands he has helped build over the last decade or so include:
- MTS, the 7th largest mobile telco business. Leads integrated WPP team helping MTS on all aspects of brand building and communication across Russia and CIS. Recent results include MTS catapulting earlier this year into the position of The Most Powerful brand in Russia and the 89th most valuable brand in the world with one strongest, healthiest brand momentum’s* (Financial Times/Millward Brown Global Top 100, 2008)
- ABN AMRO the universal bank. Worked with them globally to improve the power of their brand, supporting a global re-branding and then using the brand to help management drive operational and strategic coherence across the many business units. As a result, in 2007 ABN AMRO leapt into the Financial Times Top 100 list with a +75% increase in value, to a new position of 95th most powerful brand in the world.
- Vodafone: in line with the re-branding and integration of many of their recently acquired subsidiaries helped launch the first ever pan-European product/service launch, the 2.5 G offering of Vodafone Live. A powerful tangible demonstration of an integrated aligned organization.
- Citibank: Supported the drive for coherence across Citibank’s Consumer and Corporate businesses throughout the developing markets of Asia, LatAm and CEEMEA.
Derek grew up in SE Asia and has worked in London, Amsterdam, Moscow and New York. Currently he and his family live in London. |
