An Economics graduate from SRCC; Delhi University and an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad, Shubhajit joined GSK as a Management Trainee in 1992 and held various brand positions in the Nutritional category. In all these roles, Shubhajit demonstrated good commercial acumen and leadership skills to make significant contributions to the portfolio. He was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the OHC category effective August 1998 and was instrumental in successful execution of all OHC launch plans. 

In December 2001, Shubhajit was offered a Global Assignment with the OHC category in the UK where his contribution to NPD activities of toothbrush; especially the successful multi-country launch of the Aquafresh Tooth & Tongue brush, was recognised and appreciated by the Category Team. 

Shubhajit returned to the Indian business heading the Horlicks brand as GM-Marketing.  Under his leadership, Horlicks underwent its most successful restaging with the “Taller, Stronger, Sharper” campaign.  This has delivered sustained & profitable growth momentum to GSK’s 100 year old brand Horlicks.  Other key initiatives have included the restage of Junior Horlicks with international award packaging helping the variant cross the Rs.1 billion mark and excellent activations across the portfolio.

 

Since May 2006, Shubhajit has been working as the Executive Vice President – Marketing for GSK, driving significant double digit growth across GSK’s portfolio.  Some key initiatives include launch of Women’s Horlicks, 3 launches in OTC in 2007, the best ever restage of Boost and award winning advertising campaigns that have driven sales in market.
